The "Songkran Festival Day", or Water Splashing Festival, which is a traditional festival of Dai people and those living in southeast Asia, has just past. President Hou Changlin of Tongren University, Luo Hongfang, vice president in charge of education internationalization, and Shu Hua, director of the Office of Teaching Affairs, have spent the "Songkran Festival Day" with oversea students from southeast Asian countries like Thailand and Laos.

During the event, the oversea students, who have just finished their Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi in the morning, all rush to splash water onto Hou, as a way to express their blessings. Some Chinese students are attracted and join them. President Hou Changlin says that such special folk culture from oversea students actually adds color to the campus, and the diversified activities held by those oversea students have enriched the campus culture. Hou expresses his hope that those students may feel home at the University, and spend an unforgettable new year here.

The weather is very nice and the students splash water towards each other to express their wishes. The site of activity, where more than 60 foreign students are celebrating the coming of their new year, is filled with laughter and cheerful voices.
